The Effects of an Online Teaching Platform on Self-concept and Self-regulation of Medical Students at Kashan University of Medical Sciences

Background: Online language learning has recently gained a reputation in educational research, holding specifically true English for specific purposes (ESP) courses. However, ESP online not been sufficiently examined particular disciplines, such as medicine. Objectives: This study investigated the effects of teaching medical vocabulary through virtual platform (Adobe Connect) on Iranian students’ learner factors, including their self-regulation and self-concept. Methods: quasi-experimental was conducted 60 female male students Medicine at Kashan University Medical Sciences 2021. An Oxford Placement Test (OPT) administered to ensure sample’s homogeneity. Then, participants were categorized into Adobe Connect (experimental) conventional face-to-face (control) groups. Data collected using Academic Self-concept Questionnaire (ASCQ) Self-regulation (SRQ). ANCOVA test run compare influential role two instructional methods Results: Connect, experimental group, had higher median score than control group regarding posttest (P = 0.000).
